FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dr. Patrick Hines, Founder and CEO of Functional Fluidics, Named Finalist for 2025 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award in Michigan and Northwest Ohio

Detroit, Michigan – May 7, 2025 – Functional Fluidics, a leader in red blood cell health innovation, is proud to announce that its Founder and CEO, Patrick Hines, MD/PhD, has been named a Finalist for the 2025 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award for the Michigan and Northwest Ohio region.

The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® program is one of the most prestigious business award recognitions in the world, celebrating the vision, leadership, and success of innovative entrepreneurs who are making a significant impact in their industries and communities.

Dr. Hines was selected as a finalist by an independent panel of judges for his pioneering work in advancing red blood cell functional diagnostics. Since founding Functional Fluidics in 2014, he has led the company in developing cutting-edge assays that are transforming how clinicians, researchers, and pharmaceutical partners evaluate blood health—particularly in diseases such as sickle cell disease and other red blood cell disorders.

“This recognition from EY is an incredible honor,” said Dr. Hines. “It reflects the dedication of the entire Functional Fluidics team and our shared mission to revolutionize how we understand and treat blood-based diseases. We are committed to making blood health actionable and improving outcomes for patients around the world.”

Finalists will be honored and winners announced at the 2025 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® Michigan and Northwest Ohio awards gala, to be held in June. Regional winners will move on to be considered for the national awards in November.
